What is project Fi ??

Project Fi is the name of the Google's mobile network that offers you data just like any other network provider does for your mobile devices.

The biggest eye catching feature here is that Google is offering this service at flat $20 ( Rs 1281) per month. The services offered includes talk, text, WiFi tethering and a never seen before international coverage in 135+ countries.

Let us explain you with an example

Suppose you took a 3GB plan for a month from a normal network carrier at RS 500 and you end up using only 1.4GB of the total allocated data, you might get n option for rollover data and the remaining data will be added to your next recharge under the condition that you recharge over a specific period.
But with the Fi you will have to pay only for the 1.4GB data that you have used.

Rollover cash is always better than Rollover data!!!!

Here the point ot be noted is that Google will be Mobile Virtual Network Operator(MVNO) which means that Google will act as a middle man between its customer and the other carrier network. So even if your network switches between various network providers you don't have to actually deal with them.

Google claims to provide the best network as it will allow fast hopping between the 4g and any nearly located free wifi depending on which is providing better services.Google counts upon all the various free WiFi hotspots across any country as part of its network.

You never know Google may start offering people remunerations for giving the Fi customers access to their personal WiFi networks,in the process of improving its network services.

But this idea seems farfetched as Google seems to be promising its users that their data will be secured with the Google Encryption standards and also there will be seamless transfer between Cellular Network and WiFi.

Currently the project Fi is only present in the US but this idea can be implemented in any country with the condition that the carriers are willing to partner with Google.

Supported devices and Why?

Google's Project Fi is currently available on the Google PixelGoogle Pixel XL, as well as the older Nexus 6Nexus 5X or Nexus 6P flagship devices.

This is because the Fi sim card works in tandem with a specially tuned cellular radio is not only able to bounce with any network nationally but also bounce with any network internationally with absolutely no roaming charges.

This feature is currently compatible with only the above mentioned devices. If you have any of the above mentioned devices and currently residing in  US all you need to do is look out for your app drawer and you'll find the app there inside that you can manage your account info and keep a track on the data that you have used.

PS: And for my Indian readers, we can only hope that google comes up with this project Fi in India very soon and we can all get over the constant bickering that exists between our current network providers.

Adios!!!
