The browser has been accused of having a very inappropriate extent of access and permissions which is said to be exploited by the browser to gain information of the users. The Indian government is said to be monitoring the app and if the accusations are true the App will definitely face a ban in India.

According to the reports from the Ministry of Electronics and Telecommunications, there have been complaints claiming that the browser has been accessing their data and sending it onto the chinese servers. The security flaws in the browser were first reported by The University of Toronto now the flaws are being looked into by Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) based in Hyderabad.

The C-DAC team is reviewing the reports that were made in the University of Toronto stating that there were a number of security and privacy vulnerabilities in the browser which could easily anke its users exposed to surveillance an other privacy violations.

Unique device and user identifying data like IMEI and IMSI besides the user location every time the browser is used via a WiFi connection are sent over to a remote chinese server. Thus making the user extremely vulnerable to surveillance.

This is how the data leaks take place.
